Huttons win fourth Short-Handed Series

It only took 5 of the 6 races for Beth and Craig Hutton (Carioca Da Gema) to stitch up their fourth Canegrass Short-Handed Series win on Saturday, 20 August.

With a drop to come and a 10 point lead over second after 5 races, the pair didn’t even need to turn up for Race 6 to win the Series. A late surge from From Russia With Love, who won their third race of the series and second on the trot, saw the deficit cut to just two points.

Third place came down to a tie-breaker between Ruffian and Young Einstein, with the latter claiming the prize as per rule A8.

Race 6 saw the Series conclude in a fantastic 10-15 knot Nor-Wester, providing boats with some of their most memorable runs of the Series as sailors re-group and start preparing for the summer season which commences on October 8.

Their Season 2015-16 win follows victories in 2007-08, 2012-13 and 2013-14.

We thank Canegrass Saltbush Lamb for their ongoing support of the Short-Handed Series.
